With the holidays coming up the demand on your most precious resources, your time and energy, is about to explode but you don’t have to lose the best of yourself in all the hustle and bustle.
You’ll only regret it if you do.
It’s also important to remember that there is no perfect way to get through it all. This is your life and you need to step up and set the rules for your own self-care game. That’s the only way to win.

- Practice gratitude – when you wake up in the morning think of three things you are grateful for. It may sound too simple but take our word for it – it works over time. Can’t think of anything at all? How about the pillow you rested your head on last night? The family dog who greets you with unconditional love each morning? Nothing is too big or too small so get going. Three things everyday and give yourself a star when you practice this important component to self care. If you forget a day just keep going, don’t stop. You are already perfect so don’t get caught up in making yourself wrong.
- Hydrate – the general guideline for water intake each day is about 8 glasses but do your homework and find out how much you need. And when you accomplish this simple and sometimes not so easy practice into your day, give yourself a star – you are doing great!
- Eat healthy – you’ll have to do some homework and use your judgement but you know what your health goals are and what your challenges are so when you stay on track with your goals, give yourself a star but don’t beat yourself up if you indulge now and then – it is the holidays.
- Play, AKA exercise – Now is not the time to slack on your workout routine. Stay on track. And if you are waiting until the new year to begin a new routine, think about getting started now! Exercise is a great stress reducer and life is too precious to put off taking care of yourself. So get started and follow through this season.
Easy enough, right? Give yourself a star for each practice you honor each day through now and the new year. If you miss a few stars don’t let it get you down, keep going.
